How to prepare an apartment or house for a 3D tour
Prepare your property for a 3D virtual tour: tidy rooms, protect personal details, clear routes and plan lighting before the shoot.
Prepare the whole room
A visitor to a 3D tour can look in different directions. An item you could keep outside a photograph may remain visible during a virtual visit. Begin with ordinary tidying: clean surfaces, remove rubbish and put small everyday objects away. Furniture can stay in its natural position when it helps explain how the space is used. The aim is a clear, believable presentation of the property.
Remove personal information before capture
Check desks, shelves, fridge doors and reflective surfaces. Remove documents, family photographs, medication, keys and visible screens. Do not rely on editing to hide every small detail afterwards. Confirm that capturing the property and sharing the finished tour have been agreed with its owner or authorised occupant. A public viewing link can be forwarded beyond its original recipient.
Clear the routes between rooms
Keep the route from the hallway to bedrooms and between the kitchen and living room clear. Open the doors to rooms included in the shoot and decide in advance which areas should remain out of view. Exclusions need to be clear in the agreed scope. Avoid moving large pieces of furniture during capture: changes to the scene can make processing more difficult.
Keep light and activity consistent
Avoid repeatedly switching lights or adjusting curtains while the capture is underway. Discuss a suitable time so that important spaces have usable light. Mirrors, glass, polished surfaces and plain walls can produce imperfect areas even with careful work. Tell the operator about these features ahead of time, particularly when the property has extensive glazing. Keeping people and pets out of the capture area also reduces scene changes.
Do a final walkthrough
Confirm access, parking and who can open doors when required. Provide the floor area and number of rooms, and mention extra floors, outdoor areas or difficult access points. After processing, review the starting view, connections between spaces and any personal details that may have remained visible. Make agreed corrections before distributing the link widely. Preparation is a practical way to reduce avoidable revisions and keep the shoot focused.
